Translators for Tea on August 28

August is traditionally our month off for the UK summer holiday, but this year we’re planning something a little different.

During the pandemic we have found our monthly Zoom meeting to be a great chance to connect with each other and our community and to keep our spirits and work alive wherever we are in the world, so rather than pause for a month we wanted to provide that space in August too.

But in the spirit of summer and relaxation we will be taking a more laid-back approach and rather than reading a play we have invited some established theatre translators for tea – or whatever their preferred summer beverage may be – to discuss their practice, their experiences, and some thoughts about how things might have changed since they started out.

It’s also an opportunity to engage with translators working outside our usual languages.  So we’re delighted to be joined by Jeremy Tiang and Noah Birksted-Breen, who translate from Chinese and Russian respectively, alongside our director Catherine Boyle, who translates from Spanish.

So join us on August 28 at 15:00BST with a drink of your choice – and perhaps a cake? – to hear these three experienced theatre translators in conversation and for a chance to ask them a few questions of your own.

The Zoom link will be sent out to our mailing list shortly before the event, so please sign up via our usual email address, info@outofthewings.org.

And of course, the meeting is free to attend, as usual.
