Jordi Casanovas is one of Catalonia’s leading playwrights and directors, and lives in Girona, Catalonia. He writes in both Catalan and Spanish and his work has been performed throughout Spain and Latin America, winning numerous prizes. In addition to the dark comedies Bad Joke and I.D.I.O.T., he has authored more than thirty plays, and has been translated into English, French, German and Italian. His work explores a myriad of themes, including gender violence, love and betrayal, and cultural identity. He also teaches playwriting at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona.
