Writer, translator, and cultural worker based in Brooklyn, NY, US. She is fascinated by the role of language and storytelling in shifting culture. Her translation interests include contemporary Latin American drama, poetry, and fiction in Spanish and Portuguese. Currently, Sughey runs an artist fellowship program at The Opportunity Agenda and assists public and private sector leaders with creative strategies in support of issues such as racial justice, immigrant rights, and criminal justice reform. Sughey holds a BA in International Studies from Middlebury College (where she also studied Brazilian Portuguese) and an MA in Comparative Literature from Dartmouth College. She also loves watching basketball games, discovering new jazz records, and hanging out with her cat Valentina.
