Sarah S Greenwood is an emerging poet and translator from Portuguese to English. Originally from Blackburn, UK, she migrated to Southern Portugal in 2005. She holds a Diploma in Translation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists and a BA in Drama from The University of Hull and in a somewhat distant past has worked as an actor, production assistant and as a street performer with giant puppets. She is an active member of PELTA and an events coordinator for the multilingual poetry and translation festival Casa dos Poetas, which takes place in the medieval city of Silves each year. She is interested in using translation as a tool to amplify unheard voices: particularly those of women, migrants and the LGBTQ community, and voices from underrepresented regions such as the Algarve, where she lives and works. She is mother to a 5-year-old and a birth rights activist.
