María Velasco (1984, Madrid) has published more than a dozen plays, and has received the Heidelberger Stückemarkt International Writers’ Prize and the Max Award for Best Playwright. Her texts, characterised by auto-fiction and poetic/political discourse, have been translated into several languages.
Notable amongst her projects as stage director: Froth of the Daydream, based on Boris Vian’ novel (Teatro Español, 2019/Teatre Lliure, 2020) and I will wipe men… (38th Autumn Festival). Velasco has also written stage texts for dance and interdisciplinary companies.
She holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication and a Master’s Degree in Theatre Practice and Visual Culture.
